Expressive Type Book-Cover
This project involved a fresh, imaginative redesign of the book cover for Henry James’ gothic horror novel “The Turn of the Screw”. The primary focus was to reimagine the cover with an emphasis on typography that would capture the novel’s eerie and suspenseful tone. Originally written for an adult audience, this timeless gothic tale has gained popularity among younger readers in recent years, drawing in new fans who are intrigued by dark, atmospheric literature. With this shift in readership, I designed the cover to appeal particularly to readers aged 16-25, blending haunting typography with a modern aesthetic that resonates with today’s young adults. My goal was to balance the classic gothic horror elements with a contemporary design, creating a cover that feels both chilling and relevant, inviting a new generation to experience the spine-tingling depths of James’ storytelling.
